The Qur'ān Confesses the Uniqueness of Christ among all People
The Qur’ān declares the unique and miraculous birth of Christ among all people. The Qur’ān also describes Christ using four adjectives and gives him four titles that were not given to any other messenger. This [attention] demonstrates the greatness of his message, because he, unlike any other, received all his inspiration directly from Allah….It was as if all inspiration was within him.
The Qur’ān mentions five types of signs, or miracles, that supported his [Christ’s] message, some of which he shared with other messengers, like healing and prophesying. Other signs were exclusively his own, unlike any other messenger, as in the ability to create and to raise the dead—abilities that only the Creator possesses.
Al-Rāzī states, “They confessed and admitted that Allah Most High had honored Jesus with certain distinctions:
First: The miracle of death.
Second: The miracle of ascension to Allah’s kingdom, the place of the Most High’s honor. The phrase “lifting up” indicates glorification and honor. The miracle of raising him up alive to heaven was exclusive to Christ above all messengers and creations.
Third: Purifying him of disbelievers. Just as he was glorified by being lifted up as the means for purifying him of the disbelievers.
Fourth: The superiority of believers in Jesus, over those who do not believe in him, in power, authority, and a higher position until the Day of Resurrection [the Day of Judgment]; and also by reason, proof and evidence as well as by a more highly exalted position. Allah Most High had declared he would give to Jesus these honorable qualities and this superior, prestigious and high position on earth. While on the Day of Judgment, Jesus will judge between those who believed in him and those who did not believe in his message,” as if this means that the final verdict on the Day of Judgment will be based on whether one believes in Christ or not!
