Our goal
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. This is our target. The site has not yet had an independent audit, so we do not claim full conformance.
What we do
- Semantic HTML with landmarks, a “Skip to content” link, and headings in order.
- Arabic text is marked up as Arabic with right-to-left direction so that screen readers voice it correctly.
- Everything works with a keyboard. Toggles report their state (on or off) to assistive technology.
- Light and dark themes, both designed for readable contrast. Text resizes with your browser’s zoom.
- Animations stop if your system asks for reduced motion. Content never depends on JavaScript to appear.
- Charts come with downloadable data (CSV/JSON), so the numbers are available without the picture.
Known limitations
- Some dense comparison tables and charts can be hard to use on small screens or with screen readers. The data downloads are the accessible alternative.
- Classical Arabic with full diacritics is not always voiced well by screen readers. This is a limitation of current speech engines.
- An automated WCAG 2.1 AA check (axe-core, October 2026) found these issues, which we are working on:
- Some small text, including parts of the footer and small labels, does not yet meet the minimum colour-contrast ratio.
- Some interactive charts place a control inside another control, which can confuse keyboard and screen-reader users.
- The abrogation highlight switch on reading pages uses an ARIA attribute that its element does not support, so some screen readers may not announce its state correctly.
