The verse

23:97
وَقُل رَّبِّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ هَمَزَٰتِ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينِ ٩٧
And say: My Lord! I seek refuge in Thee from suggestions of the evil ones, — Marmaduke Pickthall

The issue

Muslim exegetes explain that the phrase “the incitings of the devils” means their insinuations and whispers. They also state that Muhammad was commanded to seek refuge in Allah from their effects in his life and decisions. This verse reveals Muhammad’s fear of the power of Satan.
