Al-A‘rāf 7:133
The verse
So We sent against them the flood and the locusts and the vermin and the frogs and the blood - a succession of clear signs. But they were arrogant and became a guilty folk. — Marmaduke Pickthall
The issue
This verse mentions only five plagues that fell on the Egyptians: “Then we sent upon
them the flood and the locusts and the lice and the frogs and the blood....”
However, according to the biblical account, ten plagues were sent against the Egyptians: blood, frogs, mosquitoes, gnats, flies, the death of livestock, boils, hail,
locusts, darkness, and the death of “every firstborn son in Egypt” (Exod. 7-11).
This verse attributes the miracle of the flood to Moses. But again, according to the
biblical account, this cataclysmic event happened during the time of Noah.
The limitation of the plagues to only five and the attribution of the flood to Moses are evidence of inaccurate recording of biblical and historical information.
